Katherine Takpannie

Hey, I’m Katherine.

Aatuvaamiutaujunga, or 'I'm from Ottawa' in Inuktitut. I'm just a beginner when it comes to learning my language, but with each time I try to learn more, I know my elders are happy. I love to use my ajjiliurut (camera) to capture moments. Photography for me, is part of the story I fail to put into words. In Inuktitut photograph is ajjinnguaq. A man named Ralph Hattersley once said, "we are making photographs to understand what our lives mean to us". And I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments!
